You may have your IE browser security settings too high.

With IE open try (note, this is for IE 6, so you may need to do something similar if you use a different version):

1. Click "Tools" then "Internet Options"

2. Click the "Security" tab

3. In the "Internet" section Click "Custom Level"

4. When done, select "medium" in the "Reset to" section.

5. "Click Reset"

You could repeat this for the other "Zones" too.

If this doesn't help, you may have some form of spyware, look for programs such as "Adaware" or "Spybot Search and Destroy". Or perhaps refer to a computer specialist.

If you don't have a hammer, you can substitute the hammer with other hard objects e.g. a hard wooden plank, a metal pillar esp. those unwanted plumbing pillars or even the back end of some hard shoes/clogs. Don't use your fav. good shoes.

But buying a hammer isn't that expensive. It will come in handy too. Else just borrow it from your neighbor %26amp; remember to include your Please %26amp; Thank You's ;)

See most websites aren't all registered so they are unknown and the assume this so they ask for the passsword every time.. a better way is to go to Tools/Internet Options and click on the security tab. Then at where you can see last two items in the first box is the site blocker and the site allower. so then you can put wat sites your son can see and not see.If your son wants to see a site you allow that site if it's O.K.(I don't know if this makes a diffence but i use Internet Explorer 7 so it may be diffent

There is a downside: When you delete cookies, some programs or goodies you downloaded may or may not work, pictures may or may not become X’s the next time you open the file, etc.

I have gotten an Internet Explorer error that causes it to restart my computer. I googled the error code and think a file may be corrupt. Should I do a system restore? Moxzilla is not for me btw.

It could be a variety of reasons such as incompatible Add-ons, incompatible toolbars, lack of system resources (RAM), malware, Java problems, etc. Hard to say without knowing the error details.

First run your resident security products such as antivirus and antispyware applications. about:blank is your default page if you choose "Use Blank" for your home page. There's nothing harmful in it, but if you'd like IE to always pull up another page, go to Tools -%26gt; Internet Options -%26gt; General, and set it there.

You have spyware/malware, you need to run a program like spybot search and destroy or spyware blaster, you can find them free on the net, type in on the yahoo search page, spybot search and destroy, free then download it run it, then do the same with spyware blaster, usually you need 2 programs to get rid of stuff. I would also suggest winpatrol too because it lets you see what starts up when your computer starts and you can disable and remove the about program that way too.

For my experience, i can tell you that i find Mozilla Firefox is better than IE 7. Following are the parameters on which Firefox scores more points over IE7.

1. Speed :- Pages load faster in Firefox.

At your height you should be between 145-155. I am the same height and when I weighed 145 I looked to skinny. Go a bit between the two and you should be on average.

Yahoo toolbar runs significantly better on IE 7 than IE 6. If you are having, IE Error, IE being Internet Explorer. Then that is a simple spyware problem. You would have to scan with your spyware proctection program such as AOL Spyware Protection. After you scan to see what it was, then you are to go to your IE options and set to default.

I agree with David D, If you have Windows XP you should upgrade to IE 7. Security is poor in IE 6 and support will be limited. IE 6 was open to far more secuirty loop holes and is much easily taken over by spyware/hijackers.

My question for you is a simple one: If your car was broken and you had the option of puttting a more fuel efficient engine in it or putting the exact same type of engine in it before (the one that ran well but consumed more gass), Which would you choose? My point being is that as things change and update we as a society need to update with it. Taking a negative approach (not a careful approach!) towards a trend of moving forward only stunts your progression even in computers and learning. That does not mean the next time a service pack comes out to install it but to wait a few week/months for the bugs to be worked out.

I am still using (and will continue to use IE6). I see no reason to change to 7! I have downloaded the MSN Toolbar which gives me tabbed browsing without the hassle of downloading 7. We have 7 at work and I hate it!
Not switching to IE7 (or Firefox, Opera or Safari, etc (i.e. away from IE 6)) will cause problems in the long term. IE 6 has rather weaker support for standards and has many more bugs then other browsers so it is more expensive for site authors to support (and they will stop doing so when its market share falls far enough).

I'm still using IE6 and intend to continue using it. I tried IE7 and had more problems than I intend to put up with, so uninstalled it and went back to 6. Until Microsoft gets it fixed, I see no reason to change. As far as it's so-called weak security, I've never found that to be true.

Some toolbars and add-ons have been causing problems with IE. Internet Explorer is no match for Mozilla. Firstly, Mozilla is just plain safer. I've been doing an online course on malware removal and PC protection and the site actually recommends you take Mozilla instead of IE.

Secondly, it's faster and much easier to run than IE (i will never again be able to work without tabbed browsing, nothing beats that).

Also, as Pheonix Enigma said above, it's extremely expandable. It has an endless list of add-ons, tools, skins, you name it to keep you busy for days on end just seeing what they all do (some are extremely usefull, some are just for fun).

So yeah, overall i would definitely suggest you at least try Mozilla, as soon as you do you will forget IE even existed.

You can install as many browsers as you wish, not just firefox but you can also have, say, Opera or Maxthon.

Never ever uninstall IE, you need it for your security windows updates and it's also an important part of your operating system.
Well it's recommended to keep both. There are some pages on the Internet that require Internet Explorer (for example, Windows Update). So it's ok to have both, it's just a personal preference on which web browser you want to use. I have both, but personally I love Mozilla Firefox better than Internet Explorer.

I would try updating a few things.

First, make sure you have visited windows update and that you have the latest version of IE installed.

Second, make sure your IE plugins, such as Adobe flash, shockwave player, Java platform etc. are all up to date.

Third: Yes Jeffo there are other browsers like Mozilla Firefox, which is in my opinion better than IE. HOWEVER, some sites are written solely for IE, which the asker is having trouble with. For netflix, I'd try re-installing the netflix movie viewer program.

Either roll back your computer with System Restore, or delete IE altogether and download 6, if it still available. The add and remove programs is another possibility.
Probably the easiest way is to use SYSTEM RESTORE...\

Click on START...ALL PROGRAMS...ACCESSORIES...SYSTEM TOOLS...SYSTEM RESTORE and go from there....just pick out the date and time just prior to you making the switch to IE 7

Ad-Aware isn't an anti-virus program so it won't catch the google redirect virus you have. Download, use, and keep updated a quality antivirus program like AVG.

Can you tell what weird place it redirects you to? From what you're explaining, it might be a trojan or spyware that has taken over your browser
While you run Ad-Aware multiple times (once might not cut the mustard, you might need to run it over and over again), go get Spybot, HiJackThis!, CW: Shredder. These should be able to get rid of your viruses. If not, then I suggest using a different browser (e.g. Opera, Firefox) or reinstalling your OS.

For anti-virus, get FreeAVG which is available on majorgeeks.com, or on AVG's website.
Odds are good your system is infected. I ran quite a few scanners, including WindowsDefender, and AVG, and none of them found anything.

See if you have a 'zip' item in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft \Windows\CurrentVersion \ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad key of the registry. I deleted this 'zip' item, rebooted, and then deleted what had been pointed to by the item (a classid which in turn points to a zip.dll file in the %WINDIR%\Installer\* folders. Good Luck

The browser could be damaged. Re-install - or install a better browser as suggested above. There are more than just Firefox 1.a) which is a pain at start up, sorry to say ;-)

IMHO a better browser is the fastest workaround to the problem. Another is returning to IE 6 plus a shell 1.b). That gives about the same or more functionality as IE 7 with less of the troubles that are often associated with new software.

You could also try a shell with Your IE 7 install or the IE 7 reinstall and see whether that improves the situation.

Interference from the firewall: make sure the browser can pass. If You have trouble with the settings of the firewall?

Use a firewall that is easy to handle e.g. Zone Alarm. Make sure that You do not use two firewalls at the same time = switch off Windows own firewall if You use another.

Additionally to ccleaner You could check whether a Browser Helper Object causes the mess. A program for managing them is explained here 2.) download 3.). Do not allow BHODemon to autostart - it has that option but it is IMHO wasting resources to have many programs running all the time.

you can try this, next time max the window, use the red X to get out, should open that way when you reboot.
re you talking about the case when you click on internet explorer icon and it does not open maximized? or you are talking about case when you click on a link somewhere it does not open maximized?

If the problem with links, it can be due to the fact that the website is coded that way to open popup window in specific size. if it is the case when you open IE from the desktop short cut, then some settings changed.

To correct that, go to internet properties%26gt;advanced and reset to default settings on everything. I recommend update to IE7. Since it has tab browsing, your problem should go away.

IE and FF are both good browsers. FF has had more security fixes than IE over the past year, but they both have acceptable security features. Some websites don't work with FF. Some websites are broken with IE and FF.

If you are building websites, make sure they work with IE and FF, and with Safari if you want mac people to enjoy your site. There are good tools around to make stuff work with different browsers.

Some people have both browsers. Use the one you like best and don't forget to keep it well patched.

Sounds like perhaps the beta version of Yahoo! is not compatible with IE6.

You could always go back to classic, or try to dl IE7 again.

Make sure to delete any previous version of IE7 before downloading it again.

I need to view a CCTV remotely. I notice whenever ask to install X4 Control (ActiveX) to my IE7, IE7 will shut down unexpectedly. After restart, whenever I access to the CCTV URL (triggering the ActiveX), IE7 will shut down immediately. Anyone has this problem before?

So I was using Internet Explorer 6 (or whatever is the brand-new one) recently and I love how the favorites list is set up, on the left side with the little scroll bar that makes finding things really fast. I'm not sure, but that is one of Firefox's features have yet to get used to.
I would suggest if you are familiar with IE then Download and use IE7. You'll find Firefox lacks alot of the ability to properly view things online, and I also don't care for it's bookmark setup.

Use Avant Browser. It does everything that Firefox can do and more. It works with IE so the bookmarks work the same.

I'm an Avant Browser fan all the way. As far as I'm concerned nothing else even comes close. Have you tried any of the themes for Firefox yet? There is a theme for Fire Fox that makes it look very much the same as Internet Exploder. I use the Noia Extreme 2.0 Theme. Click on tools, then add-ons in Fire Fox.

One Major reason comes to mind:

Internet Explorer is built in to the operating system. If something goes really wrong with IE you'll have to reformat and re-install your OS.

Having said that please ensure that you have:

Windows xp / Windows Vista

Windows xp - Service pack two

If this is a new problem I suggest that you check the network connection. This can be done by:

Start menu

My Network places

Ensure there is a working network installed

If not you may have lost a connection and thus can use the wizard to set up a new one.

If this is not the case, most likely as Messenger is working, I would look at your internet settings. *

Refreshing the page also helps as well.

* Very hard to explain your needed settings, please refer to manufactures guide or xp technical help.

1. remove 100% of all flash programs. then re-install flash, take the defaults!

My best advice is to do away with Internet Explorer all together and try the Firefox browser. Not only is it safer and more secure than IE, but it's also faster. I've been using it for a while now and I am very satisfied with it. I wouldn't even dream of going back to IE. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!!

Well, it depends on what you used to get rid of the viruses. If you used a registry cleaner, you may have gotten rid of important files. Apparently that's what I did, then when I got HughesNet satellite internet hooked up, had problems with IE cannot open the page. Thought that it was some connection settings, fought with it for 3 weeks, then finally got mad and reformatted the computer. Now it works fine. Missing registry files will do it.

I use both IE 6 and Firefox. IE 6 will be there after you uninstall IE7 by going to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and delete IE 7.

To be honest, I've never used IE7, but from what I've heard it's just IE6 with different buttons, and extra added bugs. If you want to be using IE6 because you preferred it then use IE6, or alternatively use FireFox ;)

The New IE 7 is very slow.

u can use other web browsers like OPERA or FIREFOX.These are faster than any version of IE and have many facilities as compared to IE.

U can even continue downloads in opera as well as firefox.

There is a problem with some of the older Yahoo Toolbars - sounds like this problem may be a symptom. Uninstall your Yahoo Toolbar from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and the problem will most likely go away.

If you like the toolbar and want to keep it around, upgrade to the latest version (click the yellow download button on http://toolbar.yahoo.com) and it should work fine.

If you can use firefox, then its something to do with a .dll, browser extension or some setting in IE. Optimize IE by going to start, run - inetcpl.cpl.

Under browsing history, click delete, delete all,

Security tab, reset all zones to default,

Privacy tab, set to default

Programs tab - check "Make sure IE is default browser" and click make default.

Advanced, scroll down a little bit, see "Enable third party browser extensions". Uncheck it, click apply, ok and try IE.

If that doesn't work, try start, run - inetcpl.cpl, click advanced tab and click on reset under reset internet explorer settings.

I have and have used IE7 BEFORE anyone else could even come close to getting it. (If that tells you anything) and it has been working flawlessly since.

I will NEVER ( %26lt;--- see that "NEVER") go back to IE6 and I will NEVER use a browser (no names firefox mentioned) that has MORE problems then IE. It is the user that HAS to set things up JUST like the OS itself.

I just downloaded IE7 from Yahoo downloads. Try to reinstall IE7(if that's the one you are talking about)

The New IE 7 is very slow.

u can use other web browsers like OPERA or FIREFOX.These are faster than any version of IE and have many facilities as compared to IE.

U can even continue downloads in opera as well as firefox.

Both the softwares are free.
There is a problem with some of the older Yahoo Toolbars - sounds like this problem may be a symptom. Uninstall your Yahoo Toolbar from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and the problem will most likely go away.

If you like the toolbar and want to keep it around, upgrade to the latest version (click the yellow download button on http://toolbar.yahoo.com) and it should work fine.
