everytime I double click the IE6 icon on my desktop it just makes another shortcut. any help would be aprichiated.

I just downloaded the new firefox2 last night, its fast and reliable, and I still have IE6 for special occasions, I'll suggest you do too, you'll always have problems with IE, and don't get IE7.
